We currently have a full time position available in Braemar for a Chemical Engineer to start immediately. Role Duties: Prepare and design procedures and guidelines for the manufacturing of fragrances and diffusers from the arrival of raw materials to dispatch of the final product. Responsible for the proper use of the equipment and raw material in manufacturing to assure the compliance of quality standards and client’s requirements. Prepare fault reports with corrective and preventive actions of any faulty equipment. Develop a contamination management system to constrain possible chemical spills. Collaborate in the development of new products and provide the necessary knowledge for the selection of components taking into account cost and availability. Analyse the manufacturing system as well as equipment to identify strategies to reduce cost and increase performance. Advise and determine the possible causes of product failures associated with chemical compounds. Compound and manufacture fragrances and diffusers on a large scale according to the client’s requirements. Analyse and evaluate the quality control of raw materials and finished products to meet standard specifications. Work in coordination with the perfumer to diagnose technical problems and propose remedial solutions. Design the layout of the plant, working procedures and a system to control and manage stock of raw materials and supplies. To be successful in this role you will have the following: Science based tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred). Experience designing products for the fragrance and bath & body care industries. Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety, quality and reporting techniques. Strong understanding of formulation and application technologies based on the practical use of physical chemistry properties and methods. At least 2 year’s relevant experience in similar roles.
