Established in Melbourne, Australia in 1988 Mimotopes has a global customer base with sales offices and distribution channels in the US, UK, Europe, Japan and India. Our customers range from small labs and universities worldwide, to large multinational drug discovery companies. Our core competence covers the areas of Custom Peptides, PepSets™, Peptide Libraries, Peptide Reagents, SynPhase™ & Lanterns. We need a Chemist to perform the following DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare, purify, and characterize peptides Use and maintain HPLCs, LC/MS, and other instruments for peptide characterization and purification workflow. Perform analysis accurately and within turnaround times. Determine purity and integrity of peptides using spectroscopic and chromatographic methods. Development, submission, and maintenance QC data on files as well as on internal database Engage in the design, formulation, quality control and technical support of new products. Monitor & develop chemical processes & procedures Follow SOP’s Performing a range of chemistry testing of products and specifications and produce chemical substances to required standards Participate in peptide design/discovery and data-driven (structure activity relationship based) lead optimization. Planning, execution, and documentation of work under the guidance of the supervisor Independently work on projects, solve problems, and meet project timelines Application and/or Development of new linker chemistries, if needed Sampling, testing and analysis with a focus on quality, safety, accuracy and efficiency. Prepare notes, observations & outcomes/results. Note findings of practicals and suggest recommendations/improvements. Review and evaluate test results and report on outcomes and analysis of results and any corrective action required. Operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation and laboratory equipment Ensure safety procedures are followed in accordance with site, state and national guidelines Effective running of the laboratory supporting calibration and maintenance of equipment day to day. Effectively communicate and liaise with customers regarding peptide design and production process REQUIREMENTS : Knowledge of organic chemistry and peptide synthesis and purification strategies Bachelor’s degree or higher (PhD. Preferred) with minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in the field of peptide synthesis A creative and independent team member who thrives on bench work Experience in using automated peptide synthesizer and knowledge of various synthesizer models and their maintenance is a must Experience in running and maintaining LC-MS • Hands on experience in the HPLC analysis and purification (quantity from mgs to grams) Strong quality and customer focus Appropriate candidate must have the following skills, education and experience: Education : Bachelor’s degree or Higher Degree in related field Australian Experience : At least 2 years of Australian Experience OR/AND Overseas Experience : At least 3 years of Overseas Experience Specialist : Peptides and Peptide-Related products Work Rights : Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or Full Work Rights Holder NOTE: Only applicants meeting the above criteria must apply.
